In
this competition, SEU had five projects—four
domestic and one international—enter the on-site finals
to compete for gold medals and finally won four gold awards. Among the winning
teams, the “Jing Yi Qiu Jin” team from the School of Civil Engineering and the “Re
Bian Liu Zhuan” team from the School of Electrical Engineering both received
the National Gold Award in the higher education main track. The team from the
School of Materials Science and Engineering successfully tackled the challenge
of developing a flexible zinc-ion battery based on hydrogel for wearable
electronic devices and earned the National Gold Award in the industrial topic
track. Additionally, the “Optical-Link Hub” team from the School of Information
Science and Engineering also won the Gold Award in the international
track.
On
October 15th, the Innovation Forum for World University Students &
the Founding Ceremony of the World University Student Innovation Alliance were
held concurrently with CICSIC 2024 at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. SEU is among
the first member institutions of the alliance. Jin Shi, vice President of SEU, attended
the inaugural annual meeting of the alliance and participated in discussions on
its charter. Jin encouraged the award-winning student teams to practice the SEU
spirit, “Strive for Perfection”, enhance their skills through innovation and
entrepreneurship, and foster a culture of learning through competition.
This
competition was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Education and 12 other
departments concerned along with the Shanghai Municipal Government, while
Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Minhang District People’s Government
undertook the event. Upholding the theme “I Dare to Venture, I Can Create”, the
competition focused on the overall goals of being “more Chinese, more
international, more educational, more comprehensive, more innovative, and more
collaborative”. It aimed to deepen the integration of vocational and general
education, industry and education, and science and education, and effectively
enhance the leading role of higher education in building a strong educational
nation. The competition also aimed to cultivate enterprising young talents and
establish a world brand for cultural exchanges between Chinese and foreign
youth in the new context.
