Recently, the 1st Automobile Culture Festival of SEU was held in the west square of the student center of Jiulonghu Campus. Jin Baosheng, Vice President of SEU, Lu Zaigui, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial National Defense Science and Technology Industry Office, Li Zheng, Second-Class Counsel of Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology, and related responsible comrades from Industry and Information Technology Department of Jiangsu, Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology, China Society of Automotive Engineers and other units have attended this activity.
Jin Baosheng said in his speech that the vehicle technology has been developed to be electric, intelligent, and networked in recent years. This automobile culture festival has guided people into the modern intelligent automobile industry to appreciate the cutting-edge technology of modern vehicles, so as to help people better understand the growth of contemporary automobiles and popularize the knowledge of future automobiles, thus showing the brilliant “automobile culture” of SEU at the same time.
At the meeting, Prof. Yin Guodong from School of Mechanical Engineering of SEU displayed the autonomous book delivery prototype vehicle jointly built by his team and SEU Library for the first time. The car is capable of indoor positioning and navigation, emergency obstacle avoidance, outdoor joint LIDAR path planning and other functions. Therefore, when put into use, it will provide students with the “half-an-hour delivery” service for the borrowing and returning of books, which can save a lot of time.
The participating units gathered in various SEU professional teams in the field of vehicle, including School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Economics and Management, School of Transportation, School of Automation, School of Electrical Engineering, etc. In addition, there are many types of vehicles on display, including some “Internet celebrity vehicles”, such as the “Wisdom” autonomous vehicle experimental platform and the high-performance distributed drive intelligent electric vehicle which both have just won the gold award in the World Intelligent Driving Challenge, the Formula SAE racing car designed and manufactured independently by SEU students, and the commercial juvenile kart developed by the alumni of the Formula racing team.
There were visiting booths, opportunities for interaction and question answering, and other activities available at the event for the benefit of students to enrich their knowledge of vehicle. Furthermore, there were also professional racing simulator and electric kart experience activities, so that students can enjoy the fun of driving, the speed and the passion.
