At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves children with learning disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. في عشاء لجمع الاموال لمدرسة ما يخدم الاطفال الذين يعانون من حالات عجز عن التعلم ، والد احد الطلاب كلمة من شأنها ان تنسي أبدا من قبل جميع من حضر.

Shay asked, “Do you think they’ll let me play?” Shay’s father knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but the father also understood that if his son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps. الحنطور تساءل : "هل تعتقد انها سوف تقوم به واسمحوا لي؟" الحنطور والد يعلم ان معظم الفتيان لا نريد ان شخصا مثل شاى على فريق ، ولكن الأب اذا كان من المفهوم ايضا ان ابنه سمح لتقوم به ، من شأنه ان يعطى له في امس الحاجة الشعور بالانتماء وبعض الثقة لتكون مقبولة من الاخرين في بلده على الرغم من المعوقات.

Shay’s father approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. الحنطور اقترب والد احد الاولاد على ارض الملعب وطلب (لا تتوقع الكثير) اذا الحنطور يمكن ان تقوم به. The boy looked around for guidance and said, “We’re losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. الصبي النظر حول للتوجيه وقال : "نحن تفقد من قبل ستة ويدير اللعبة في الجولة الثامنة. I guess he can be on our team and we’ll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning.” واعتقد انه يمكن ان تكون على فريق العمل لدينا وسنحاول وضع له في لبات في الجولة التاسعه. "

Shay struggled over to the team’s bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. الحنطور ناضل الى الفريق وهيئة ، مع ابتسامة عريضة ، وطرح على قميص الفريق. However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay’s life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact. ولكن ، وكما الحنطور صعدت الى اللوحه ، والقاذف ، مع الاعتراف بان الفريق الاخر هو وضع جانبا من اجل الفوز في هذه اللحظة في حياة الحنطور ، وانتقلت في عدد قليل من الخطوات لالضربه المنحنيه في الكرة شاي ناعم حتى يمكن اجراء اتصالات على الاقل. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. وجاء اول رمية وانتقل شاي بشكل اخرق وتفوت. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. ومرة أخرى فإن القاذف اتخذت بضع خطوات الى الأمام لإرم الكرة نحو شاي ناعم. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher. وكما جاء في رميه ، وانتقل شاي في الكرة واصابت الكرة الارضيه بطيءه الحق في العودة الى القاذف.

The game would now be over. اللعبة الآن اكثر. The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. فان القاذف حمل ميسرة الضربه المنخفضه ويمكن ان يكون من السهل رمي الكرة لاول الباسيمان. Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game. لقد كان من شاي بها والتي كانت نهاية المباراة.

Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman’s head, out of reach of all team mates. وبدلا من ذلك ، ابريق الحق في رمي الكرة اكثر من أول الباسيمان رئيس ، بعيدا عن متناول جميع فريق الاصحاب. AND NOW A LITTLE FOOTNOTE TO THIS STORY: We all send thousands of jokes through the e-mail without a second thought, but when it comes to sending messages about life choices, people hesitate. والآن قليلا حاشيه هذه القصة : اننا جميعا ارسال الالاف من النكات عن طريق البريد الالكتروني دون التفكير بالأمر ، ولكن عندما يتعلق الامر بارسال رسائل عن الاختيار في حياتهم ، ويتردد الناس.
