Here’s an example of why newspapers are losing readership…

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

Helena Oliviero, Atlanta Journal Constitution, is writing a story about getting married on July 7, 2007. Is this really newsworthy? I can’t believe one of the largest newspapers in the country has assigned a reporter to cover this.

It appears Helena gets the sense that July 7, 2007 (7/7/7) is shaping up as a wildly popular, in-demand day to get married. Really, who would have known!!!

According to Helena, many hotels, florists and photographers in Atlanta are already booked on this day, while normally July (due to the hot days in Atlanta) is not a very popular time to get married. Just asking, but are the hotels, florists and photographers booked only for weddings or are there other events and/or occasions to consider?

Anyway, Helena is interested in talking to wedding trend watchers ( I didn’t realize this was an actual job) about what they are noticing with the demand for 7/7/7, as well as numerologists about why “7″ is so lucky in the first place.

Sorry, but she only wants Atlanta or Georgia connections for this story. If you do fit the bill Helena can be reached at holiviero (at) ajc.com.

I guess next year we can expect a similar story on 8/8/08.
